I made marble cake for Esmeralda and Tolga to take home. The recipe was from cookbook called The great big baking book.
Ingredients
4 oz plain chocolate
12 oz plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 lb butter at room temperature
1 lb sugar
1 tbsp vanilla essence
10 eggs, at room temperature
confectioner sugar for dusting
Preparation Method
Preheat a 350F oven. Grease cake tin. Dust with flour. Melt the chocolate in the top of a double boileer, or in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of hot water. Stir occasionally. Set aside.
In a bowl sift together the flour and baking powder. In another bowl, cream the butter, sugar and vanilla with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.Add the eggs, 2 at a time, then gradually incorporate the flour mixture on low speed. Spoon half of the mixture into the prepared tin.
Stir the chocolate into the remaining mixture, then spoon into the tin. With metal spatula swirl the mixtures for a marbled effect.
Bake until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean, about 1 hours 45 minutes. Cover with foil halfway through baking. Let stand 15 minutes then unmould and transfer to a cooling rock. To serve dust with confectioner sugar.
